EVENT UPDATE (July 1, 2020)

Elective Deferral
Approximately 30% of registered teams elected to defer to 2021 due to concerns related to COVID-19.  The decreased number of teams will make it easier to adhere to many permit guidelines (if granted) and social distancing requirements mandated by local and state governments.  

Event Decision
Although we are moving ahead with planning, we know that these are uncertain times and that we may be forced to postpone if permitting agencies are unable to grant permits in time for our event. We plan to make a final decision about whether to postpone or move forward on or before July 26th and are delaying any major event expenditures until after that date.  If we decide to move forward based on improved conditions at the end of July, we understand that the race could still be forced to postpone, up until the time of the event, if conditions worsen.  

Final Payment Deadline
We have temporarily paused access for captains to make their team's final payment.  In the event we decide to move forward on July 26th, then captains will have until August 3rd to complete their team's final payment.  All payments will carry over to 2021 if we have to postpone the event at any point. 

Team Roster/Pace
Please continue to fill your team roster online and update your team pace by the July 26th deadline.  This will allow us to get your start times to you in a timely manner. 

We hope to see you all in September! We are working hard to make sure we can host a safe and fun event.  Please read our Relay Safe Commitment for details on potential event modifications. Please let us know if you have any questions.

EVENT UPDATE (May 20, 2020)

As of now, we are planning to hold the event as planned. We are as excited as you are to get back to running events and sharing good times with friends.  Here are a few questions and answers as we navigate returning to relays in the era of COVID-19.  

What modifications will be put in place to ensure runner safety?
Depending on CDC and local guidelines, certain modifications may be put in place to reduce the number of individuals at any location on the course.  Potential modifications include restricting pre and post-race events, expanding starting times, and adding portable handwashing stations at transition areas.

When is the final payment due?
The final payment deadline has been extended to August 3, 2020. 

What if the relay has to be canceled due to regional mandates?  
All teams will automatically be deferred to our 2021 Ville to Ville Extreme Relay scheduled for September 25, 2021. 

What if the event is held but my team is unable to attend due to governmental travel restrictions or is uncomfortable participating?
All teams will have the option to defer to our 2021 Ville to Ville Extreme Relay scheduled for September 25, 2021. The deadline for an elective deferral is June 30, 2020. All payments will be transferred. Team captains can email us if this is your team's preference.  

Can we transfer our registration to the 2021 Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay scheduled for April 17, 2021?
Not at this time. If there are team spots available after September 26, 2020, we will notify team captains. 

Why is a deferral possible for this event, but not for the 2020 Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay?
The April event was forced to postpone four weeks prior to race day, therefore the majority of race expenses were already incurred. We have held off on purchasing most of our direct expenses for the Ville to Ville Extreme so that deferring is a viable option. We are not able to offer refunds for any reason (including deposits).

Ville to Ville Relay Series

EVENT INFO

The Ville to Ville Extreme Relay celebrates the beautiful region from Greenville, SC to Asheville, NC. It is a 72-mile team running event traveling up the Blue Ridge Mountains, through local craft breweries, and into quaint southern towns. 

The Ville to Ville Extreme Relay will be held September 26, 2020. The first flight of teams will start the relay around 5:00 am. Over the next few hours, additional teams will depart on their journey through the Carolinas. Each team will consist of three to six runners who will split 12 legs ranging from 3-9 miles. Each team will provide their own race vehicle to drop off and pick up runners at designated transition areas along the course route. Ville to Ville teams will arrive at Highland Brewing Company in Asheville, NC between 3:00-8:00 pm for a finish line celebration which will include music, food, and of course, craft brews.

TEAM PAYMENTS

Early Registration:  Before January 1, 2020 -  $225 deposit at time of registration.  Final payment of $450 due by June 30, 2020.  Total Fee = $675

Regular Registration: January 1, 2020 to May 15, 2020 - $255 deposit at time of registration.  Final payment of $450 due by June, 2020. Total Fee = $705

Late Registration: May 16, 2020 to July 18, 2020 - $735 due at time of registration. 

All early and regular registrants will be required to pay a deposit during their initial registration and will have the option to pay the entire fee. Teams that only pay the deposit must pay the remainder of their team fee ($450) by July 26, 2020, at midnight.  Teams with unpaid fees on July 27, 2020, will lose their spot in the race and their non-refundable deposit. Team rosters should be finalized by July 26, 2020. Late registrants (as space allows) will pay in full upon registration. All fees are non-refundable and there is a 5.5% processing fee on all online payments.

Welcome Reception - September 25, 2020 - SpringHill Suites/Residence Inn Greenville Downtown, 200 East Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601 - 3:00-8:00 PM
*Free two-hour street parking is available nearby or you may valet park at the hotel.  There is also nearby parking available at the South Spring Street Garage. First hour = Free, second hour = $2, each additional hour = $1

All participants must come to the welcome reception and show your ID at check-in. If you are unable to attend the welcome reception, you can pick up your packet on Saturday morning at the starting line. Please allow extra time (45 minutes before your start) if you are checking in on Saturday morning.

TEAM VOLUNTEERS

If anyone on your team lives within 100 miles of Asheville, NC or Greenville, SC, you are required to provide one race-day volunteer or pay the $100 volunteer fee. Please visit our volunteer page to find out more.

AGE & ID REQUIREMENTS

All runners must be 21 years old or older to participate in the Ville to Ville Extreme Relay and proper identification will be required during packet pick-up to verify age.

TEAM NAME

Be creative, but keep it classy. Your team name will appear in lots of public places, so make sure it is one that would make your mother proud. You will submit your team name during registration, but it can be changed until July 26, 2020.

Ultra Male (3 runners, 1-3 males)
Ultra Female (3 runners, all female)
Open Co-ed (minimum of 2 females)
Open Male ( all male team or all males plus 1 female)
Open Female (all females)
Masters Male (all male team or all males plus 1 female, all members 40+)
Masters Female (all females, all members 40+)
Masters Co-ed (minimum of 2 females, all members 40+)

TEAM CAPTAIN

Each team will have a team captain (we will initially use the name and contact info of the person registering.) We will provide regular race information and updates for the team captain on our Captain Resources page and through monthly email newsletters.

TEAM PACE

In order to make it to the post-race party in one day, it is mandatory to have a team pace of 10:30 minutes per mile or less.  This doesn’t mean that everyone on the team has to run at this pace, but it does mean that if you have slower team members, you will need faster team members to keep your team on track.

You will estimate a team pace when you register your team with an average min/mile pace for all runners on the entire course.  For a 6-person team, each runner will run twice between 3-9 miles, so a 10K time average would be expected. Final team pace estimates will be due by July 26, 2020.

CANCELLATION / WEATHER

This is a rain or shine event. The race director has the right to change the course or change the event in case of inclement weather.  More details on our weather policy can be found in our Guidebook.
